- מְנַשֶּׁה(b. h.) pr. n. m. Manasseh, 1) son of Joseph; also the tribe of Manasseh. Gen. R. s. 84 מ׳ גרם לשבטים לקרוע M. was the cause that the sons of Jacob rent their garments (Gen. 44:13; v. Gen. R. s. 9 1); a. fr. 2) M., King of Judah. Snh. X, 2; Tosef. ib. XII, 11. Yeb.49b מ׳ הרגוכ׳ M. put Isaiah to death; a. fr. 3) M., grandfather of Jonathan (Jud. 18:30). Tosef.Snh.XIV, 8; B.
